Jack Philbin – 2021 Scholarship Recipient
The 2021 recipient of the RedStrong Memorial Scholarship is Jack Philbin, who will be attending Rich’s alma mater, Bentley University, in the fall of 2021. In college he plans on studying actuarial science and maybe minoring in something that is more focused around business, as well as playing football. Once Jack graduates he hope to pass the actuarial exams and become an actuary, working in a city like Boston. Best of luck to this soon to be falcon! Enjoy your 4 years, Jack, they go by so quick!
James Powers – 2018 Scholarship Recipient
And last for this evening but certainly not the least, Rich’s not-so-little brother James was a recipient of the Memorial Scholarship in 2018 – James has enjoyed a great couple of years since being awarded the scholarship, and continues to absolutely crush it in the golf tournament year over year. Who is going to take him on this year??

Without further ado… We are proud to announce the 4th annual recipients of the Richard J. Powers RedStrong Scholarship: Alexis Hahn and Pat Gallagher. These two Leominster graduates received their scholarships in 2019, and have since gone off to college. We hope that they enjoyed their freshman experiences despite the difficulties associated with COVID-19.
REDStrong’s 3rd Annual scholarship winner: Evan Andrzejewski
The RedStrong Foundation is proud to award Evan Andrzejewski with the 3rd annual two-thousand dollar scholarship in memory of Richie Powers. On top of playing ice hockey and golf, his strong academics, good character, and the essay he wrote about his never give up moment, he caught the eye of the scholarship committee over his 26 competing peers. He plans to attend WPI in the fall where he still study engineering. Previous recipients: Ryan Potvin, Ed Cuddahy and Lucas Amico. Congratulations Evan and best of luck in all your future endeavors.
2017 REDSTRONG Scholarship award winner: Lucas Amico
On June 1st Leominster high school gave out scholarships totaling $287,000. The Powers family is so proud and it gives us great pleasure to be a part of that. Out of 20 applicants our recipient really stood out from the rest. We are pleased to announce the winner of this year’s 2017 Richie Powers REDSTRONG Scholarship went to Lucas Amico. Good luck to the class of 2017.
Scholarship Winners
Ryan Potvin and Ed Cuddahy were the recipients of the 1st annual Richie Powers scholarships. They each received $2000.00. The ceremony took place at Leominster high school on Thursday, June 2nd. Ryan will be attending Worcester State in the fall, majoring in criminal justice and hopes to continue his golf career playing for the Lancers. Ed will be attending Sacred Heart University and playing football. In addition to strong character in the community, good grades, and a varsity sport athlete, these two fine young men had to write a short essay on their “Never give up moment.” Although we received many applications these two young men really caught our eyes. The Powers family wish these two well in their next adventure in life. Good luck to all the graduates. Do something today and everyday that matters!!
